travel north america united states of america alaska skagway klondike highway

The Klondike Highway runs from Skagway, Alaska, to Dawson City, Yukon Territory, Canada.
We have travelled the Klondike Highway between Skagway, Alaska, and Carcross, Yukon Territory, Canada, twice.
This two lane roadway sometimes parallels the gold miner's route during the 1898 gold rush.
It crosses over White Pass and into some high mountain areas, some above the tree line, that are dramatically beautiful.
There are high snow-capped mountains and open valleys of rough, glacier scrubbed rock covered with moss and scrub around small ponds of melted ice.
